Puppies
“Cairn
puppies are regarded as very precious, are
closely watched and painstakingly raised with
love from birth. When they are deemed old
enough, they are carefully placed with
responsible owners to whom they will give many
years of loyalty and loving friendship.”
(Jerrie Wolfe, Rosecroft Cairns, USA)

This absolutely
sums up the Emeraldcity feelings about our Cairn
puppies. We also follow Jerries guidelines on
raising pups with great temperaments, to read

Cairn
Terrier Puppies
Cairn
Terrier puppies are beautiful bundles of energy
and mischief. They shouldn’t leave their Mother
until they are at least 10 weeks old, and will
need extra care and special attention in the first
few months after they move to their new forever
home.
At
Emeraldcity, the Cairns sleep inside in their
crates, and puppies are always brought up in the
home environment. They are used to household
sounds, sights and smells, and grow up as happy,
healthy, outgoing and well socialised dogs. They
have excellent temperaments and that wonderfully
“Cairn” independent personality. Each puppy is
health checked, vaccinated, wormed, microchipped,
temperament assessed, socialised, paper trained,
crate trained and registered with the appropriate
Canine Association before leaving Emeraldcity.
Bringing
home a new puppy is an exciting time but it can be
a bit overwhelming, for the new owner and the
puppy! At Emeraldcity, we like to keep in touch
with our puppy people, and offer ongoing
assistance and support. Owners are encouraged to
call at any time with a question, or just to talk
about the latest exploits of their new pup. New
owners are provided with an Emeraldcity Puppy Pack
containing:
-
a
book on cairn terriers and their care,
-
a
comprehensive information folder all about Cairn
Terriers and caring for puppies, toilet training,
grooming, obedience information and more;
-
a
diet sheet and sample of the pup’s current diet;
-
the
pup’s favourite toys;
-
puppy
bedding with a familiar scent to help them settle
in for that first night at their new forever home;
-
and
water from the area if the pup is travelling.
Emeraldcity
offers the first grooming session with your puppy
for free, and lessons on how to groom your cairn
in future, as well as a Cairn Grooming Service
(prices on application) and a special boarding
service, exclusively for our puppy owners.
All
Emeraldcity puppies are sold with their pedigree
papers, on a spay/neuter contract. This states
that the puppy must be spayed/neutered by 6 months
of age, and evidence of this is to be provided to
the breeder. Please look at the article, "Why
spay/neuter" in the Responsible
Dog Ownership page on this website, to find out
why this is the best thing to do for your puppy.
The
Emeraldcity puppy sale contract also states the
breeders guarantee of the health of the puppy, and
the stipulation that if the owner cannot keep
their Emeraldcity dog, for ANY reason, EVER,
throughout their life, that they must return the
dog to Emeraldcity. The contract also outlines the
breeders and the owners responsibilities in caring
for their Cairn, and is designed to protect the
puppy/dog at all times.
Emeraldcity
puppy owners can contact Ginnette at anytime with
a concern, question or just to tell her how their
pup is going. The letters, e-mails and photographs
of growing pups and happy adults with their humans
are wonderful and always welcome!
Puppy

We use a temperament assessment to match
puppies to people, and all inquires are welcome
regarding Cairn Terriers.
If
you are just after some information at this stage,
or simply want to discuss if you/your family are
ready for a dog, Ginnette at Emeraldcity is happy
to talk to you. Welcoming a dog into your life is
a huge and long term decision to make, and
Emeraldcity encourages everyone to think carefully
about it, to research the decision, discuss it
with knowledgeable people and be prepared to have
your heart and home taken over if you do find the

Puppy Resources
This
test can provide an evaluative
guide on the temperament,
aptitude, spirit, intelligence and
willingness to work with humans of
a puppy. There are other
evaluative tools that breeders
also use to help them know and
understand their pups, so that the
best match between puppy and
people can be made.
