About
the people at Emeraldcity
Emeraldcity Cairn Terriers are based in
Queanbeyan, New South Wales, Australia, which is right next to the
Australian Capital Territory - Canberra, and the cairns are bred,
exhibited, groomed and cared for by husband and wife team Ginnette Loft
and Peter Miller.

Ginnette has been
involved with pedigree dogs since 1989, when
she purchased her first Australian Silky Terrier
from George Grendon of "Barrian" kennels,
who became her mentor. She was Secretary of
the ACT Australian Silky Terrier and Yorkshire
Terrier Club for five years. Ginnette then became
involved in Cairn Terriers, purchasing her first
in 1998. She is a member of the Victorian Cairn
Terrier Club and a past member of the British
Terrier Club of NSW, the Canberra and District
Sporting Terrier Club and the ACT Ladies Club
(All Breeds). She was Secretary and Publicity
Officer of the Canberra and District Sporting
Terrier Club for three years, and a past Committee
member of the Cairn Terrier Club of NSW.
Ginnette
is currently the President and an inaugural
member of the Bungendore and Palerang District
All Breeds Kennel Club.
Ginnette has been
involved in a variety of volunteer work involving
dogs over the years, including:a Pets as Therapy
program for frail aged people in hostels and
nursing homes;assisting elderly and sick people
to care for their pets through the organisation
PAWS; and the dog rescue organisation ACT
Rescue and Foster (ARF)
Peter's background
includes owning horses, for racing and steeplechasing.
He is co-owner of the Champion Tasmanian horse
"Outstride", winner and multiple place
getter in The Grand National Steeplechase at
Flemington, Victoria. Peters love of animals
and understanding of structure and movement
meant he quickly became involved with dog breeding
and showing when he met Ginnette. Together they
have developed Emeraldcity into one of the most
successful cairn terrier kennels in New South
Wales and the Country, with multiple In Show
and Group level awards at both All Breeds and
Speciality Shows.
Ginnette and Peter
take great pride in breeding and exhibiting
their beautiful Cairn Terriers, and love the
independent spirit, friendly outgoing temperament
and the very people-oriented nature of this
hardy Scottish breed. While show awards are
fantastic recognition of the quality of dogs
they are breeding, an Emeraldcity Cairn Terrier
is a beloved companion to Ginnette and Peter,
first and foremost.
Emeraldcity puts
the happy life of their Cairn Terriers as its
top priority. As ethical breeders, Emeraldcity
will only sell puppies with a spay/neuter contract,
not allowing indiscriminate breeding from their
precious cairns. Emeraldcity is fortunate to
have a partnership with Australia's premier
Cairn Terrier breeder, Joymont kennels, and
has approved access to the Joymont bloodlines.
Ginnette and Peter
support the future of the breed by introducing
new people to showing, and responsible breeding,
and by encouraging health testing.
Emeraldcity cairns
reside in almost all states of Australia, as
well as overseas. They are companion dogs, show
dogs, agility competitors and therapy dogs.
Anyone who has visited
Emeraldcity Cairn Terriers knows - they breed
for QUALITY, not QUANTITY, and ensure that all
of their pups are wonderfully socialised and
are used to living in a happy home. The Emeraldcity
focus is on the puppies health, temperament
and conformation, aiming for the best in all
areas. Emeraldcity cairn terriers are bred to
the Country of Origin Cairn Terrier Breed Standard
(UK), as this is the Gold Standard of the breed
and what all good Dog Breeders should always
aim for and be guided by.
